This search verifies whether the Certificate Authentication Code (CAC) printed on a Water Access Licence is the same as the CAC printed on the Water Access Licence issued by NSW Land Registry Services for titles issued since 4 January 2004.
ViewThe Certificate Authentication Code (CAC) has been included on the Water Access Licence (WAL), since 4 January 2004 to improve the security of these documents. The CAC should be treated as confidential and should not be disclosed to any unauthorised person.
If this search - which utilises the CAC and the other details from the Water Access Licence - does not produce a valid result, there is reason to question the authenticity of the Certificate.
If you receive a suspicious telephone call or email from someone seeking your CAC do not provide the CAC. If you are uncertain or have provided any details regarding your CAC number, contact the NSW LRS Customer Service Centre: T: 1300 052 637 (within Australia) T: +61 2 9228 6666 (outside Australia) E: generalenquiry@nswlrs.com.au.
Note that NSW LRS will never contact you and ask for your CAC number.
An officer at NSW LRS can provide a verbal opinion on the validity of a Water Access Licence issued before January 2004. To obtain this assessment, you must bring your WAL to the Lodgment Office at NSW LRS at 175 Liverpool Street, Sydney. Ask the concierge to arrange for you to speak to the Lodgment Office Team Leader.
